Cheetah Conservation Fund - Namibia  & Action for Cheetahs
http://www.cheetah.org/ - http://www.actionforcheetahs.org/

A favorite of Carol's! She speaks at schools and Seniors Homes in the Calgary and Vancouver area and they say thank you by contributing to CCF which helps cheetah conservation.

DID YOU KNOW - CHEETAHS . . .
~ Are the fastest land mammals sprinting up to 110kph
~ Have non-retractable claws like dogs for “faster starts”
~ Have “tear stripes” to aid in their vision when hunting
~ Are one of the most endangered due to loss of habitat
~ Have solid spots vs the leopards rosette spots
~ Will eat melons in the Kalahari during the dry season
~ Lose at least half their cubs to starvation or predation ~ Puuuuuuurrrrrrrr (it’s wonderful to hear!)

Daphne Sheldrick's Elephant Orphanage - Nairobi
http://www.sheldrickwildlifetrust.org/

A special place! Every group going to Kenya stops there and are treated to a visit with the babies . . . AND Daphne - lucky us! There is a flurry of adoptions and t-shirt purchases - all going to the little gaffers that need our help.  Drought and poaching have been two of the main problems that have doubled the number of orphans.  There is no place like Daphne Sheldrick's Orphanage....

East African Wildlife Society
http://eawildlife.org/

This group works so hard on conservation and education issues in the grasslands, the mountains and oceans - a huge task...

Travel Operators for Tigers
http://www.toftigers.org/

Did you know Tigers have disappeared from 40% of their home range in the last 10 years?  Human encroachment in these areas is a huge problem.  TOFT is committed to promoting well managed tourism which is the best way to save the forests of India and it's tigers... leopard... elephants... and oh so much more.

Polar Bears International
http://www.polarbearsinternational.org/

A little closer to home .... who would have thought we'd have to worry about our own amazing bears.  Global warming has cast a huge shadow on the great white bear.  We may not be able to turn the heat down with a thermostat but every bit of energy conservation we do helps.  This group works hard protecting the habitat and doing research that will hopefully help the species.

Galapagos Research Station

Another endangered space with unique species. We love our talks from the interpreters and they are always so grateful to get the much needed financial help.  We leave a nice donation every time we visit the islands.

Gorilla Trackers/Rangers - Rwanda

Nature Encounters Tours & Travel is keen to support Gorilla Conservation right at the source. Our donations of cash and rubber boots (purchased in a local market and given directly to the park headquarters) have helped the trackers and rangers do their job of protecting this endangered primate.

Kajiado Girls School - Kenya

Again, every trip to Kenya we visit this wonderful school. NETT guests have brought everything from books, toothbrushes, school supplies and clothes. Some have personally donated large amounts (you know who you are and thank you!) as have various Rotary Clubs spearheaded by their members.  The latest...with amazing donations we were able to purchase mattresses, sheets, towels, sanitary napkins (or the girls can't go to school....) and over 700 mosquito nets to help the prevention of Malaria!  We are very proud of your contributions and know the girls have and continue to - benefit - Asante Sana!  Our next project is a water well to help not only the school but the whole Kajiado Community.  Contact us for more details.

Ruhengeri, Kinoni Medical Clinic - Rwanda

On our last gorilla safari, we found a clinic with a very busy Sister Claudine taking care of babies... kids... seniors ....everyone and everything.  They have issues with lack of supplies but the ongoing rain in this area and lack of security are posing a huge problem.  We plan to take more medical supplies on our next visit thanks to friends in the Detroit area.

Schools and Villages in Zambia, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda

Everywhere we go - we visit schools and villages. NETT groups always come prepared with school supplies for all the kids and they are very appreciative! Good work guys! Thank you as well to the wonderful schools from Canada that have sent gifts and supplies to the families in these developing countries.

Tikki Hywood Trust - Zimbabwe
http://zimbabwe7.wildlifedirect.org/

Zimbabwe is having a rough time so to help with conservation projects is very special. We found Tikki Hywood Trust - an amazing woman who is trying to keep some not well know and precious species alive and well.
